Earl B. "Rebel" Cheek

Earl B. Cheek Earl B. "Rebel" Cheek, 75, of Fairhope, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1992, at 10:10 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Maryville, Tenn., a son of the late Luther and Gertrude Lee Bunch Cheek. He was Protestant by faith. He was retired from the USX Irwin Works following 35 years as an electrical welder. Survivors include his wife, Freda M. Steele Skibo Cheek; three stepsons, Gary Skibo of Fayette City R.D.1, Jeffrey Bruce Skibo of New York and Brian Skibo of Ormond Beach, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Mark (Darla) Altemara of Belle Vernon; six stepgrandchildren; one brother, William Martin Cheek of Knoxville, Tenn.; four sisters, Juanita Nelson of Knoxville, Louetta Bowling of Powell, Tenn., Helen Ruth Wilson of Maryville, Tenn., and Geneva Hartnell of Petersburg, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Eugene Cheek; and one sister, May Alice Cheek. Friends will be received in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home, Fayette.City, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced Friday
